The Jagannath Temple in Puri was built in the 12th century by the Ganga dynasty king Anantavarman Chodaganga and according to Kendupatna copper-plate inscription it is believed to have been built in 1112 AD.

Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra are worshipped in the Jagannath Temple.
