THE OBJECTIVE OF NAMING THIS AS SUNDAR (BEAUTIFUL)
All the 'Kands' (chapters) of Ramcharitamans have been named with some specific purpose. For example, in the Balkand there is a description of Sri Rama's childhood. In Ayodhya-kand there are descriptions of the events that occurred in Ayodhya etc.

But why was this kand has been named as Sundar. Some scholars are of the view that regaining of lost thing is called Sundar (beautiful). So this chapter is appropriately named as Sundar, because the whereabouts of the abducted Sita were known.

Sundar is synonymous of the word monkey and in this chapter the divine deeds of Hanumana have been glorified.

Some scholars are also of the view that since this kand contains the description of Sri Rama's beauty from 35th Sarga onwards hence it has been named as Sundar.
