Om is the sacred word in Hinduism. It is believed to be a word of creation. It is a word of God.

Bhur means physical plane of existence in which we live.

Bhuvah means nature of subtle elements. It is astral plane of existence.

Swaha is from where the creation happens. It is celestial plane.

Om bhur bhuva swaha is the first line of Gayatri Mantra and Swami Vivekananda said that we meditate on the glory of that Being who created the universe and He may enlighten our mind.

S Radhakrishnan said about Gayatri Mantra in 1953 that we meditate on the glory of the sun and the almighty may inspire our intelligence.

Gayatri Mantar is also called as Savitri Mantra and it is dedicated to Goddess Gayatri, who is supreme personality and not a deity or demigod.
