Lavender oil can be applied with water, a base oil or by inhalation. It is one of the few essential oils that can be applied to the skin without dilution. The aroma is sedative to the nervous system and the 160 different components in lavender are soothing to the skin. Having a light floral and herbal scent makes it a good oil to use on children, men, and women.

The word lavender comes from the Latin word lavare and it means to wash. Lavender’s antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral and restorative properties help in treating the skin for acne, bruises, muscle spasms, and pains. Cleaning properties of it helps the skin heal and restore itself. Valerie Gennari Cooksley, certified aromatherapist, recommends adding a few drops of oil to bath water to keep healthy skin.

Lavender oil is popular having sedative properties on the nervous system. It is used to treat insomnia, depression, irritability and nervous tension. The combination of deep breathing and lavender oil is good to keep you focus. The use of it is great for test taking, oral presentations or simply unwinding from a busy day.

Lavender is an extremely versatile therapeutic essence. It is clear with a yellow tinge in color and emits a fresh and sweet smell. The aroma is fruity aroma and considered to be calming and therapeutic on those extra-stressful days.
