Ravana's father name in Ramayana

Ravana's father was Vishrava or Vesamuni. He was a sage and Brahmin. His mother was a demon and warrior. She was Kaikesi.

Ravana's mother is also known as Keshini and Nikasha. Vishrava left his previous wife Ilavida and son Kubera for her and fathered three sons and one daughter - Ravana, Vibhishana, Kumbhakarna and Shurpanakha.

Do you know that Vishrava was the grandson of Brahma, who as we know is the creator of everything.

Vishrava was a great Rishi. He earned powers through tapasya. His fellow rishi Bharadwaj was impressed with him and gave his daughter Ilavida for marriage to him.

Their son Kuber was the original ruler of Lanka. Kuber is knwn as Lord of Wealth.

Knowing Vishrava had great yogic powers, Rakshasa king Sumali wanted to increase his own power through alliances. So decided to make his daughter Kaikesi the wife of Ravana.
