Yes, Buddha was a real person. He was born as Siddhartha Gautama Buddha in 480 BCE in Lumbini, the Shakya Republic, to Śuddhodana and Maya Devi. He died at the age of 80 in 400 BCE in Kushinagar, the Malla Republic. He founded the religion Buddhism. He was married to Yasodharā and both together had a son named Rāhula.
