After Rama was sent to exile his father Dasaratha died in grief. Kaikeyi blamed herself for the death. Kaikeyi's son Bharata too blamed her for his father's death. He vowed not to ever address her as a mother. He also cursed that no father will ever name his daughter as Kaikeyi.
