Gomukh is at a height of 13,200 ft in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state. It is a traditional Hindu pilgrimage site.
The snout of the Gangotri Glacier resembles the mouth of a cow and hence it is called Gomukh. Gou means cow and Mukh means face.
