Which comes first Mahabharata or Ramayana

Ramayana took place first. It was in the Treta Yuga. Mahabharata happened in the Dvapara Yuga. Rama in Ramayana was the 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu while Krishna in Mahabharata was the 9th avatar.
