The Konark Temple or Sun Temple was built by King Narasimhadeva I in the 13th century. It is designed as a big chariot of Surya Dev, the Sun God. The chariot consists of seven horses and 12 pairs of wheels. The temple is mostly in ruins now and comes under the World Heritage Site listing.
