Kalidasa was a Sanskrit poet and dramatist in the 5th century CE. He was a great writer and is best known for his works titled Abhijnanashakuntala, Vikramorvashi and Malavikagnimitra. He was also one of the nine gems in the court of King Vikramaditya of Ujjain.
