Why Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated twice in a year?

In South India, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the month of Margshirsha instead of Chaitra Pournima. In the northern region of India, Hanuman Jayanti falls on Chaitra Poornima. This is the reason that it is celebrated twice.
