Shakuni was brother to Gandhari, who was married to Kaurava prince Dhritarashtra, who was a blind man. His ager was on Bhishma who brought the proposal of marriage.

Bhishma had killed his father and brothers. Shakuni swore to avenge and later poisoned the mind of eldest nephew Duryodhana to take up war against Pandavas.

Shakuni is said to be one of the main villains in Mahabharata. In the epic book he is portrayed as extremely intelligent and masterminded the Kurukshetra war. He was second only to Krishna in the era as the greatest illusionist.

Yes, this is also true. In the Mahabharata epic book he is mentioned as personification of the Dvapara Yuga. He had extreme love towards his sister and so his enimity was Bhisma for making her marry a blind man. He incited hatred between the two familiies, the Kauravas and Pandavas.

Even though Shakuni was a villain in the Mahabharata, but it is believed he had Sattvic elements. He is worshiped in Kerala. An ancient temples is dedicated him in Kollam District of the state. The Kuravar community takes care of the temple.

I have heard neither puja nor tantric rituals are performed there, but people just offer things like palm wine, silk and tender coconut to the Shakuni temple.

One story goes this way that Shakuni had been to this place twice. Once he visited with the nephews during the Mahabharata war when they traveled across India. Here they divided weapons among them. Later he visited after the war was over to attain Moksha with Lord Shiva's blessings. He thereafter became Lord Shakuni.

The Kuravar community celebrate a temple festival in the Malayali month of Makaram. It is called as Malakkuda Maholsavam. The subdeities inside the temple are Nagaraja, Kiratha Moorthi and Devi Bhuvaneshvari.
