Sati had always wished to marry Lord Shiva. She married Shiva against the will of her father. She is often said being the youngest daughter. She is also addressed as Dakshayani.

In Telugu tradition Sati is called as Perantalu while in the Tamil tradition she is called simply as Tamil.

Sati was the first consort of Lord Shiva. Next was Parvati, who is again incarnation of Sati.
