Hinduism following people are also found in Africa and Mautitius is a good example as more than half of its population follow the religion. However, hinduism was not born in the continent. Just recently, in late 19th century, Hinduism took root in Africa through the spread of British Empire. Many Indians were recruited there as servants in British Empire colonies.

When Africa and parts of southern America were colonies of British government, slaves/labors were taken from India, mostly from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Many of them never returned back and so there are a good percentage of Hindus in the continent. Most of the Indians there speak Bhojpuri language, the language of Bihar and UP. I know a bhojpuri singer in Suriname named Raj Mohan in Suriname. He says his ancestors were from Bihar. He is a renowned singer there among Hindi speaking community. A simple Google search can help you find him.

Yes very true. The East India Company had taken slaves from India to Africa. Many stayed back there forever and their generations are still following Hinduism.
