How do you know if essential oils are pure?

Take a sheet of white paper and pour one drop of essential oil on it. Let it dry. It is not pure if you see an oily ring on paper after it gets dried.

Also do note that essential oil is always packed in glass bottle as it reacts with plastic. More to this, the glass bottle should be in dark blue or amber color. Such color usually protects the oil from ultraviolet heat.

If a drop of essential oil is taken on index finger and rubbed with thumb, the feel would be slippery and not greasy or thick.

You can also check for certification or claim made by authorities about purity. Also, do check the word 'essential' is mentioned on the bottle like Lavender essential oil should not be written as Lavender oil.

If the manufacturer writes the essential oil is only for external use and not for internal use, it means the oil is not pure.
