How many gotra are there in Brahmin

It is believed there are 49 gotras in Brahmin and those are like Jamdagni, Bharadwaja, Gautama, Vishwamitra, Kashyapa, Vasistha, Atri and Agastya.

However, it is believed the Brahmins originally came from eight gotras.
