As per the 7th Pay Commission basic pay for an IAS officer starts from Rs 56,100 per month. Added to it is HRA of 8-24 percent of the base salary along with DA and TA.

There are in fact a total of 18 pay levels in IAS and the officers gets promoted in every four or five years. In the increment the rise in pay ranges between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000. At the highest level the base pay is Rs 2,50,000.
