Hinduism doesn’t have a distinct religious hierarchy and no fixed, dogmatic set of teachings. Temples and priests, although widely present, don’t play a central role – it is very well possible to cultivate a personal relationship with God or to engage in spiritual practice without ever visiting a temple or Brahmin priest. Furthermore, there is the freedom to choose one’s personal deity from a wide range of deities representing different facets of the Divine.
