It is holy book of Hindu or for those who follow Sanatan Dharma. It was written about 5,000 years ago during the era of Mahabharata war. Lord Krishna is the supreme god in it. It is a narration of Krishna to Arjuna.

Yes, it is a religious book for Hindus. It is kept in homes as Bible and Quran are kept in Christian and Muslim homes respectively. It has certain rules to follow while reading.
