Relation between Brahma and Saraswati

Husband and wife. Brahma created Sawaswati out of himself. She is considered as the tool of creation. She is the energy that drives Brahma's actions. However, Brahma had fallen in love with Saraswati and convinced her to marry him saying living beings would be born.

If you read Matsya Purana, you will find there was a time when Brahma was the only being. There was no cosmos too. He longed for company. So he decided split himself into two and created Saraswati. Some believe she emerged from Brahma's mouth.

After marriage, Saraswati helped Brahma in executing his plan of creating the cosmos and both created demigod Manu, who is said created the world.

Saraswati created the Sanskrit language. She is known as the mother of the Vedas.

She is also named as Brahmani for being the wife of Brahma.
