There is a rule of worshipping Shiva daily with complete with milk, water, bel patra, etc. So if someone has the capacity to worship Shiva daily through the ShivLing, then there is no problem in keeping ShivLing at home. But mostly ShiLing is kept at Temple with proper care and worship.
