Dhaana or Donation is one of the major tradition in Hinduism which promotes universal welfare . It is a means of maintaining equality in society and also a selfless way to help your brethren. But,there are items that can be donated to the people who are in real need of donation as a remedy the some specific problems. It is really important to make donations i.e. 'dhaana' with its content mind. Make sure that donation or Dhaan is done with open heart without any grudge or regret as it becomes hindrance on way of performing such a pious ritual. Below is the list of some items mentioned along with specific benefits obtained by donating them -
Rice -To remove accumulated sins from previous births.
Oil - To atone for recent sins.
Jaggery - To get relief from Diseases.
Clothes - To get prosperity.
Rudraksha - To remove curses from guru/teachers.
Gold - To remove curses from ancestors (pitru).
Silver - To beget children.
Copper - To improve quality of profession.
Ornamental Items - To remove curses from women.
Plants - It reduces fights between Wife and Husband.
Puffed rice - To remove obstacles in marriage.
Sweets - To get peace of mind.
Money - To remove drishti dosha /evil eye.
Books - To remove obstacles in education.
Water -To have a peaceful death.
Land - To ensure continuation of generation/progeny.
Cow - To remove curse of brahmins (brahmana shapa).
Milk - To remove curse from snakes/ sarpa dosha.

- The above mentioned benefits will not fruitfy automatically by simply donating in mechanical manner. You have to donate the appropriate items to only needy people and you have to make sure that it is done with complete satisfaction.
- You must not be left with regret in mind after or while donating it should be done with open arm and the person who is taking donation to must be fully satisfied. For example, food should be given to someone who is really hungry and doesn't have proper income to buy food on daily basis. Giving them satisfactory donations will have receiver happy and they shall bless you from deep inside of their heart.
- There is a saying which says that sincere prayer done by stranger for your welfare is hundred times more effective than a prayer done by yourself.
