What is AC 2 tier

AC 2 tier is a term used in Indian Railways coaches. The seating arrangement in it is 2x2 instead of 3x3. This means the trains have two tiers of bunks, which is one lower bunk and another upper bunk. There is no middle berth.

AC 2 tier is sometimes referred as second AC Sleeper Class too and its ticket is costlier than AC 3 tier, which has 3x3 berths. The seats in it are spacious and the compartment is less crowded unlike the AC 3 tier.
