Lord Pashupatinath is an avatar of Lord Shiva but he is referred to as lord of the animals. The Pashupatinath temple is in Nepal and regarded as the national deity of the country.
The word Pasu means animals. In the Vedic period Pasupati was an epithet of Rudra and now is a masculine counterpart of Shakti.
Pasupatinath is shown with five faces and these refers to various avatars of Lord Shiva. Those are as below:
Sadyojata or Barun
Vamdeva or Uma Maheswara
Tatpurusha
Aghor
Ishana
