Minor Hindu Girl Intoxicated, Gang-Raped in Pakistan – Two arrested

A teen girl from Hindu minority community was raped by two men in Pakistan’s Tando Muhammad Khan district on June 7. The accused have been arrested and sent on a four-day police remand by a local court.

Family members found the 13-year-old victim, lying in a semiconscious state, from a local sugar mill playground at around 4:30 p.m. after mounting a search. The father has registered an FIR at the local police station stating she went missing after being out of home to buy groceries at around noon.

Resident of Sujawal, the minor was called by the two suspects, identified as Rajab Shaikh and Roshan Shaikh, on her way to a grocery shop. She was forced to drink alcohol before being sexually assaulted.

Medical test of the Hindu victim confirms sexual intercourse. For further investigation DNA samples of her and the two suspects have been sent to laboratory.

Regaining consciousness the girl narrated her ordeal to father saying two men intercepted her and took into the bushes. She identified both saying they forced her to drink liquor before subjecting to gang-rape.

The family is nomads and poor. They are currently residing in Jati town of Sujawal district, but very recently came to TM Khan.

Police said the girl belonging to Hindu minority was abducted and raped. She was initially taken to a local hospital and thereafter referred to the Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) in Hyderabad for further examination. She was in critical condition.

Senator Krishna Kohli, belonging to Hindu community, said the victim was forcefully intoxicated before being raped.

One suspect was arrested from within the town while other from Badin. Both are booked for gang-rape charges.

Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister said culprits will be brought to justice and initial police report has been received by the provincial government.
