Was Duryodhana and Karna's friendship genuine or was their friendship being used by Duryodhana for his selfish reasons? Lets read an interesting story which describes the true friendship between Karna and Duryodhana.

Once Duryodhana’s wife Bhanumati and his close friend Karna were playing a game of dice in Bhanumati’s chamber. Karna was winning and Bhanumati was losing in the game. Meanwhile Duryodhana entered Bhanumati’s chamber. Seeing her husband coming in, she suddenly got up (out of respect). Karna thought that she was trying to get away from the defeat in the game. So he tried to make her sit. Karna’s powerful hands accidentally snapped the thread from her drape. And all the pearls tucked in her saree scattered on the floor.

The scene was enough to portray that Karna tried to grab Bhanumati’s clothes. Bhanumati stood in the shock. Karna was embarrassed, thinking Duryodhana would surely misunderstood the situation.

On the contrary, Duryodhana just asked, “Should I collect the pearls, or string them as well.”

What a great friendship!! Both Bhanumathi and Karna had misjudged him.

Duryodhana had great love for his wife and implicit faith on his friend Karna. He never suspected the integrity, honesty and character of the great Karna. Such was their impeccable friendship.

Really, Mahabharata is a moral lesson to the entire world!!
