The construction of Jagannath Temple in Odisa's Puri was initiated by Anantavarma Chodaganga Deva, who was the first ruler of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. The principal deities here are Lord Jagannath, his brother Balaram and sister Subhadra.

The Jagannath Templ is famous for its annual Ratha yatra festival.
