Sri Rama was very pleased to have a darshan of Prayag. There they all had a darshan of Triveni at Sangam (the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati). Sri Rama told about the greatness and superiority of Sangam among all the places of pilgrimages to Sita and Laxmana.
Then Sri Rama went to the hermitage of Sage Bhardwaj. Sita and Laxmana too accompanied him. Sage Bhardwaj was very pleased to see Sri Rama. He offered him, Sita and Laxmana with fruits and other light refreshment.
People also thronged in large number to see Sri Rama. Sri Rama offered his greetings to all of them and received blessings from them.
In the morning, Sri Rama sought sage Bhardwaj’s permission to leave. Bhardwaj called his disciples and instructed them to accompany Sri Rama. All the disciples wanted to go along with Sri Rama.
Then sage Bhardwaj selected four of his disciples to accompany Sri Rama. After travelling for some time, Sri Rama first sent those disciples back and then requested Nishaadraaj too to return back.
SRI RAMA MEETS A BRAHMACHARI
After leaving sage Bhardwaj's hermitage, Sri Rama met a young and handsome Brahmachari on the way. Nobody was sure regarding the identity of that celibate. Some people thought that he was a disciple of sage Agastya, others believed that he was Kamod Mountain himself, who had arrived in the disguise of a mendicant. Even others were of the opinion that he was Tulsidas himself. According to Sri Jwala Prasad- the commentator of Ramcharitamanas that radiant Brahmachari was none other the deity Agni himself.
The Brahmachari having recognized his deity bowed down in reverence. Sri Rama lifted him up and embraced him.
HOSPITALITY OF THE VILLAGERS
The villagers offered them beds made of grass etc. and requested them to take rest at night. A lady brought a pot full of water.
Sri Rama, Sita and Laxmana rested under a Banyan tree for the whole night. In the morning they resumed their journey. On the way, they saw the hermitage of Valmiki. When sage Valmiki came to know about Sri Rama’s arrival, he came out of his hermitage to receive him.
